Emma

Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson is the daughter of British lawyers Jacqueline Luesby (born in Paris) and Chris Watson (born in Paris). Her family made the move to Oxfordshire at the age of five which is where she went to her first Dragon School. From the age of six Emma knew she would like to become an actress. For some time she trained at the Oxford branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts a part-time theater school, where she learned the art of acting and dancing. Her performances had been in numerous Stagecoach or school shows before she was ten years old. The casting process began in 1999 in the production of Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001) the film adaptation of British author J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Emma was discovered by casting agents through Emma's Oxford theater teacher. After eight continuous auditions, producers David Heyman told Emma and other applicants Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint that they had been selected as the three main characters Hermione Granger Harry Potter and Ron Weasley. The debut of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001) was Emma's debut on the screen in cinema. The film set records for first-day openings and weekday openings and became the top-grossing movie of 2001. Reviewers have been highly acclaimed of the film, as well as the performance of the three principal young actors. The popular British paper The Daily Telegraph called her performance "awesome. Emma took home the Young Artist Award as the Most Outstanding Young Actress in part of a feature Film. Emma was awarded five times for her part in the film.
